If your taking certain prescriptions, over-the-counter (OTC) medications, undergoing radiation or chemotherapy treatments you maybe suffering from a condition called Xerostomia, otherwise known as “Dry Mouth.”
Dry mouth or Xerostomia is a very common side affect of cancer treatment. It’s a condition that can occur in the mouth for several months during or after treatment. In fact, it may become permanent if the salivary glands are damaged during cancer treatment. With some of my patients who are taking certain chemotherapy drugs it can be common to experience saliva thickening. I have seen first hand the effects radiation and chemotherapy cause in the mouth from ulcers to tiny cuts. I’ve also seen bleeding gums, tender tissue, painful sores and oral yeast/bacterial infections. Unfortunately, it can even affect the lips. There are SO many other issues that can occur during cancer treatment. (I will have another article about chemo/radiation, what to expect in the mouth, and what can help during treatment in a future post coming soon).
“There is an entire population of people that are struggling with oral complications from medications and cancer treatments.” -Amber F RDH
Saliva is such an important key to our overall mouth health! Without saliva, bacteria and other germs can spread rapidly in the mouth. Dry mouth is a dental hygienists worst enemy! It can cause complications in the mouth from tooth decay, mouth sores, pain or burning sensation of the tongue and in the mouth. It can give a sticky/tacky feeling in the mouth, alter taste and smell, cause difficulty when talking or trouble with eating and swallowing. You can get cracked lips or the corner of your lips can crack too.
If you are suffering from ANY of these symptoms or problems even if your not going thru cancer treatment, you should try Moisyn. This product has been reviewed and discussed throughout the dental community and it was brought up multiple times in a recent dental convention I attened this year. We dental providers have seen great results from patients with dry mouth when using this product. In my personal opinion it is better then an old OTC product that I use to recommend to thousands of patients in the past. Thankfully newer products are coming out to help with some serious issues that have been neglected professionally in the past.
I love that Moisyn is NOT made with harsh chemicals. It’s free of detergents, parabens, Chlorhexidine and alcohol which are commonly used in other OTC oral products. Moisyn has ONLY 8 ingredients!
***Just be cautious if you have a shellfish allergy. One of their natural ingredients uses the shells from shrimp. However most shellfish allergies are caused from the muscle protein in shrimp, tropomyosin. You can find more info on there website https://prisyna.com/moisyn/ and consult with a doctor if you have a shell fish allergy first.***
Try using the mouthwash at night and in the morning after you brush and floss. You can use the spray during the day or in the middle of the night if you keep it near your bedside. The spray bottle is easy to travel with, throw it in your purse or take it along with you and it can used up to 6x a day.
I really hope this helps and please let me know how much you like/dislike this product. (I don’t think many of you will dislike it)
To be clear I do NOT receive an compensation or have an affiliation with this company (even though I should for how much I recommend it. ;)). I am just a big believer in products that help people, especially during times of need.
Hoping to start the conversation!
